William Warren


Upon graduation as a Distinguished Military Student from the Virginia Military Institute William D. (Bill) Warren was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantry Officer attaining the rank of Captain and serving for nearly 10 years. He was assigned as an infantry Platoon Commander, Company Commander and Reconnaissance Platoon Commander in Vietnam, POW/MIA Liaison Officer, Battalion Operations officer, Navy Amphibious Squadron Officer, Nuclear Weapons Reliability Officer, Liaison Officer with the British Royal Marines, and Active Duty Advisor to the Marine Corps Reserve in the State of Wisconsin. He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and the Combat Action Ribbon for combat service in Vietnam and the Navy Achievement Medal for his actions in evacuating US Citizens from Cyprus in 1974 Beirut, Lebanon in 1976, Throughout his nearly 31 years in the mortgage industry, he has served as a Mortgage Loan Originator, Branch Manager, Area Manager, State Manager, Regional Manager and Operations Manager and Executive Vice President. His compliance experience spans nearly 17 years of service as a Chief of Compliance and Quality Control Manager. Mr. Warren has personally closed nearly 14,000 residential mortgage loans. Mr. Warren is a nationally recognized authority in both federal and state compliance. He elected to the Advisory Committee of the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators and continues to serve as an industry representative to that Association and was awarded their prestigious Distinguished Service Award for 2008. Additionally, he is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and is a member of the Compliance Committee of the Mortgage Bankers Association. He has authored numerous compliance articles, operations/compliance manuals and training programs that have successfully bridged complex regulatory requirements for sustainable operations and quality production. Mr. Warren’s role as a Chief of Compliance includes minimizing regulatory risk while maximizing production, advising the company and promulgating policy that maintains a positive, proactive compliance posture and interacting daily with other corporate departments to resolve both tactical and strategic challenges. He is recognized in the industry as an excellent speaker, instructor and writer. He and his wife Jan have six children and 9 grandchildren.
